Y Dylan comentaba:
«El pasado no pasa tan rápido aquí».
En “Oh Mercy” Dylan fue capaz de crear una perspectiva nueva que tomaba en cuenta todas las preocupaciones revolucionarias, existenciales, apocalípticas y humanas que se adentrarían en su voz narrativa desde ese momento, una mirada al futuro desde el pasado.
Resulta que con “Oh Mercy” se había puesto cómodo en la piel de este nuevo anciano, de voz ronca, respiración difícil y visiones de astros y mujeres que se rompen y reconstruyen.
Decía:
“Todo está roto, o se ve así, astillado, roto, en necesidad de reparación. Las cosas se rompen, luego se vuelven a destruir, se convierten en otra cosa, luego se rompen de nuevo”.
La crítica reconoció en “Oh Mercy” uno de los mejores trabajos de los ochenta.
Treinta años después el álbum se ve como un monumento a la profundidad de Bob Dylan.
El disco no solo se convertiría en un clasico, aunque no tuvo el gran impacto de su producción en los años sesenta, pero, de nuevo, Dylan y solo Dylan, pudo haber construido algo misteriosamente convincente y peligrosamente siniestro, desde “Political Song” hasta “Shooting Stars”.
Una vez más, muchos dudaron si tendría otro gran álbum y una vez más Bob los desmintió, la voz de Dylan se hacía vieja y dura, pero su lirica volaba desde la política hasta las estrellas, hablando del amor, de la vida y las cosas rotas.
Quieren escuchar una obra maestra…

Escucho “Man In The Long Black Coat” sentando al borde del infinito océano que se torna con aguas grisis anunciando la proxima lluvia del norte, nunca me aburro, nunca temo a los hombres de los largos abrigos negros.
“Oh Mercy” es el disco de Dylan que más veces he escuchado y probablemente uno de los que más me ha gustado. Acabo de comprar la edición remasterizada del 30 aniversario, un regalo para mí y para mis hijas que no lo han escuchado, un disco de la madurez creativa, de un hombre que escucha y se hace viejo.
